What is the NEW Leadership Experience

According to GSUSA, the powerful new model engages girls in discovering themselves, connecting with others, and taking action to make the world a better place. It is based on a definition of leadership that girls agree on: A leader is defined not only by the qualities and skills one has, but also by how those qualities and skills are used to make a difference in the world.

Girl Scouts of every age will now pursue Discover, Connect, and Take Action activities. All of the activities will be girl-led and involve learn by doing and cooperative learning. Girls throughout the country will share a consistent experience. Adult volunteers will help point the way. But leadership experience will be very much girl driven. The girls will discover their best selves and choose their own “Leadership Journey's consisting of activities grouped around a theme. Each journey is tied to a specific outcome.
